Recent news has brought a disturbing idea to the forefront for us whistleblowers — that it is not entirely out of the realm of possibility that they could be institutionalized on the say-so of acquaintances or their so-called peers. That, my friends, is a scary thought on many levels.
While we have not been able to confirm the one particular story that we are referring to completely, it is enough to raise the hairs on the backs of our necks. Furthermore, all you have to do is look around at what is going on in this country (and the world) to see that our rights are eroding faster than you can say knife. It would be so nice to say that “It couldn’t happen to us”, wouldn’t it? But we can’t say that.
Enough. I don’t need to be rambling about the State of Things. You all know what I’m talking about. Anyone who doesn’t think that one of us could be taken away to the funny farm in a heartbeat for trumped up reasons (or secretly) is naive. Now I’m not saying this will happen. But, there is enough of a threat that we have decided to do something about it. Assess the risk, run some what-if scenarios and then take appropriate action — pretty basic.
For those, like us, who deal with sensitive information in particular, it might be a very good idea to draw up a medical power of attorney. Just in case.
Medical Power of Attorney
What is a medical power of attorney? It basically gives power of attorney to someone in the event that you become incapacitated either physically or mentally. This means that whoever holds this power of attorney will be the go-to person when it comes to medical decisions about your health if something goes wrong like you become comatose — or, say, get thrown into an institution.
Now obviously there are some caveats, and anyone who does this should know exactly what they are getting into or it could seriously backfire. One of the most important things to note here is that you need to be very careful of whom you give medical power of attorney TO. It should only be someone that you trust with your very life and soul. Otherwise people could just use this against you in the worst way. Because it gioves over a LOT of power to someone. So don’t give it to anyone that you have even the slightest doubt about.
You can actually write up your own POA, usually. Check your state to see what the guidelines are, but you can go online and find boilerplate language that you can use to type up your own power of attorney. Then, in most cases, all you have to do is get it notarized. You also can specify POA for a certain length of time, so that it eventually expires, or you can do it in perpetuity.
Make copies. Several of them. Put them in different places and with different people if you can. Make sure people know how to find them and retrieve them if you get put somewhere. Or, if you have the money, you can have a lawyer draw it up. That would be ideal, since this will guarantee that what you are doing will be legally valid and actually stand up in court, etc.
This is different from just regular power of attorney, which is when someone has control over all of your financial assets. Medical power of attorney does not give the same rights and controls as does regular power of attorney. It is strictly for medical and mental health issues, from what we understand.
It’s something to think about. Another reason this might be a good idea is is you are in a situation where you are concerned about your family throwing you in a mental hospital. Many whistleblowers (and others) get put in situations where they are having to live with (and be dependent on) people who do not share their views and who might be easily influenced to sign you over to some mental institution.

For a limited time Innocence Turned Deadly is only 99 cents on Kindle!
Don’t forget to check out Duncan’s new book Innocence Turned Deadly. The second edition (just released December 24th) has been revised and expanded. You can also get it from Amazon. It’s a great read! More info at www.duncanofinioan.com.
He is ridding the world of corruption and drugs, one operation at a time, but who does he really work for? And will the answer endanger his teammates , who include both his best friend and the woman he loves?
A young man is quietly invited to join the Unicorns, a shadowy paramilitary group claiming to work for the Department of Justice. Between the nighttime raids, takedowns, and targeted assassinations he performs, Duncan soon realizes the corruption lies not only on the street, but beneath the veil of the law and justice itself. In this semi-autobiographical journey, he exposes the secret dealings that permeated every level of the government in Kentucky at the time.
Torn between the damning information he learns from the lips of his love and the shady objectives of the invisible group he works for, he struggles to come to terms with the role they have given him — a role that is difficult, dangerous, and deadly.
Much like Sally Denton’s The Bluegrass Conspiracy, this book explores the real-life corruption in Kentucky from a behind the scenes perspective at a time when many knew what was going on, but were afraid to talk.

In Britain, talking about being involved with intelligence/MI6, etc., or in my case saying one’s partner is an MI6 agent, that in and of itself is enough to be sectioned and detained against one’s will in a psychiatric hospital. Just saying one is an “agent” or one’s spouse/family member is an agent is, according to British psychiatry, signs of a delusional mind of such magnitude that lock-up is necessary. Beautiful little set-up, eh?, which instantly takes away from public earshot any upset MI6 agent or “wife” of an MI6 agent.
Since humour helps keep us alive — and incidentally, I was awed and in tears by Miranda’s speaking (youtube video) at the Irvine conference in Sept. — I’ll put in this humourous anecdote. (Bear in mind, there were other incidents which were not at all humourous.)
Being holed up in a B&B in Wales in 2000, I decided to cope with the stresses at that point by getting royally drunk. Making a long story short, an ambulance was called and when I surfaced to consciousness in a detox unit, a physician came round and asked the usual questions. – Fyi, not holding my liquor well, a huge amount of alcohol has the same effect on me as proverbial sodium pentothal. – When the doc came to “where do you work”, I said “M I 6.” He said, “You work for MI6?” I slurred, “No, not yet. My husband.” “Your husband works for MI6?” “Yes.” Then I passed out.
I awoke to shit hitting the fan. I found myself being (cordially) escorted to a secure mental hospital, and my “husband” in London trying frantically to prove that he is indeed MI6 — that is in of itself hilarious as agents typically spend their public lives disavowing or hiding any intelligence connections! When it was decided that I was indeed married to the mob, er MI6, and hence was not dangerously delusional, one of the psychiatric nurses came over to me and asked, “So, what is it really like – which of the spies in novels or movies is it really like?” Without missing a beat, I said, “Mr. Bean”.
Cheers, Kathleen

Kathleen — you had us in tears! Mr. Bean! Hilarious! Thank you for sharing that story (We had quite a struggle with the “and what do you do for a living? question at cocktail parties and such). And thank you very much for your kind words. – Miranda

Super good advice. I’d also recommend documenting what your wishes would be in various commonly-encountered situations. The POA executor is supposed to determine as best they can what YOU, the incapacitated person, would want done in that situation. Make sure more than one person knows your stated wishes. Get it on paper! You’ll want to have backup evidence for a decision to go against medial advice, for instance. I would include a requirement that there always be an independent 2nd opinion/evaluation.
Forms can be downloaded online (get it notarized). Here’s one link:

Finally, possession is 9/10ths… getting to another state jurisdiction will make their job much harder, if they’re going through the usual channels. (There’s that mobility thing again.)

With things these days, i go to far, i say to much. Maybe cause I want others to understand that one day soon i will be counting down the minutes myself. And i see this comment and say omg but, i dont have anyone over here I trust in. My supposed mother already tried to get me shipped to the funny farm. Cant even trust her, my nice friend jumped the ship recently. So even if i made friends again with her, there is still a possible revenge factor. Or the fact she is in the medical biz is enough to keep my mouth shut. Banging the wall with my head, oh dang cant do that yet!

Thanks again you2.
Ya got me realizing….that my longstanding medical directive names someone utterly naieve about psyops.
Never mind that they are at the cutting edge of ‘death with dignity’ — something this time in history has no place for.
This undeclared war is mostly bioweaponry, including psyop.
And right , the designee on a medical directive can’t touch any financial matters.

dont write a book of your life- or dont tell family about it- MY LIL SIS FINALLY ENDED bottom of river at 35 yo-(was put down as suicide-to escape police and life in psych hospital- all b/c she wrote book of her life and the pedorapists , shotgun assaulters , accomplice mother -all felt threatened by her book- which there is proof of- but they deny she had a laptop- abusive families never let go of their victims- when we cut off contact-this “proves” we are “insane”- cant ever win- my parents, remaining siblings are all accomplices/abusers repeating on their children/grandchildren-police told me cant protect the kids-keep on- any new ideas how protect ourselves from police/psychiatry hunt?
btw- wasnt mr bean charged with pedoabusing children? or was that peewee herman?

great thanx-this is exactly what caused my sister s suicide-(thats what it was called-so who knows)- even if u have power attorney given to someone else than yr abuser-parents, police co-operate with parents- ike putting up posters of “missing persons”mental”patients)- and parents have the psychiatrists accomplices to book a room in longterm psychi hospital- these both were done to silence my lil sister- she had money-lots-& most mportantly wanted to publish her book of her life- imagine the threat to several family men & others who committed serious crimes against her-only the victims and the torturers know that the abusers always think of silencing their victims for good-and the victims live in terror waiting for that day- so unless we remain in a state to contact our medic power of attorney- police/& hospitals will overule law & assume parents are always right about accusing their children of “insane”-ad doctor who did not want to release my sis who had double pneumonia-let our mother still take her out of hospital care and submit her to 8hour drive to montreal to another hospital- many parents are sadists-brought up in religious “status” boarding schools by religious sadists-but how can we guarantee our latest will and latest medic power attorney is contacted & respected?esp if suicide attempt was made- once in a hospital the psychiatrists accuses sis of attempting suicide/was placed on suicide watch- they insisted she was lying until she stopped arguing-this is the age of kALI-HOW WD YR LAWYER KNOW YR LOCKED UP-THEY DRUG YU TILL U CANT REMEMBER parents abuses, yr lawyers name or your OWN name- i myself fear b/c parents have told all family-incl their grandchildren-that i am insane b/c i have cut off relations w them & they use this a a sign of “depression”-they have called the society for prevention suicides etc telling them they fear for my safety- of course hospitals/psychi/nurses/pill makers all want jobs/money- parents threaten them with blame if something sd happen to our child-father already drugged sis w his xanax for 5 yrs-tho he not take them himself b/c of “side effects”- mother is nurse & always druged her kids/herself-tho she has send husband/all kids to psychiatrists “so he can give u pills”s she refuses to go herself tho she yells/cries hysteric to get her way-FALSE MEMory syndrome all do this to their victims- then witness/victim is considered in court “not reliable witness” b/c she is on pills/& institutionalized-what is the solution when criminals contact all yr family/friends and say “were very worried about our daughter” & cry -to get even our friends to betray us”for our own good”-any ideas? when my sis decided to disappear from family contact-that was used to send police after her- so then she cd not get job/apartment/ social assistance, medical care or even leave the country or contact her friends/siblings-so she chose the bottom of river in montreal- any solutions to prevent this?even shelters ask for i.d. card-so sex work/drug sales remains the only “option”- that life itself can end up rejected and suicided-but now maybe it was not suicide- how can anyone take an engineer senior citizen to cout/jail- seniors class has large % of rich crimes& corruption against youth

Inventors are endangered, not only whistleblowers. Paul Pantone, inventor of the Geet engine, suffered for 3.5 years committed against his will at Utah State Hospital. He was finally released on May 12, 2009, thanks to relentless pressure from supporters worldwide. He is still fine-tuning that Geet engine, and appears to have weathered the ordeal well, according to YouTube videos.
